![]() A cool new MTB facility is currently being developed in Cumbria. Its based at Scratchmere Scar, just off junction 41 of the M6. We visited it a few weeks ago and theres already an NPS track thats gonna be used in this winter's series. Theres also an "old skool" DH track for the less brave amongst us... but its still pretty hardcore! See the photo...
![]() The main developer on the site is Clive King and he invited Rough Riderz along to discuss the four wheelers so he can provide the right sort of facilities for everyone Edited by Downhill Phil - 11 Jul 2008 at 02:59 |

I was at scratchmere at the weekend, was pretty damn good, very steep technical track. There has been so much rain recently that the track was lethal, came off quite a few time due to my front tyre clogging with mud, so I was pratically riding slicks! Well worth the trip down, and uplifts are great value for money, we paid £10, this might because it was after 12.

Hi all Just to give you a quick update on the Venue we reckon we have another 5 days worth of digging to get our 3rd track fully open and we have been busy extending the existing tracks once completed it should take the track times up to the 2minute mark. At present the situation of the freeride track is awaiting an application for funding from the cumbria tourist board to help pay for construction estimated cost's for this track stand at about £68,000 if this is approved the track may well be completed by late October so keep your fingers crossed.
Just to let people know we could do with some extra help on our official dig nights which are tuesdays and thursdays start for 5:30-6 it would be greatly appreciated no matter how much time you can spare. Clive ps no uplift this weekend 19-20th july |

Ive been in touch with Clive (uplift driver) to find out for you... and he said:
"its still open and uplifts will recommence in april the only thing thats not happening at all is developing scratch even more as i've had some issues with the council and the land owners (marshalls) who arn't keen to have any more bike tracks there so I am continuing with the DH at the moment."
So there you go... straight from the horses mouth! I think youve been listening to too many rumours so in future just ignore the "monkey business" and try to ask the organ grinder! Edited by Downhill Phil - 22 Mar 2009 at 12:16 |
