hi guys, i don't know anything about bikes, i had bought a bike few weeks ago second hand, i was told it was a very good bike and worth the price, it looked nice lol. so i bought it of this guy.

i was later told by a mate it's a down hill bike, was wondering what the difference is between a downhill and a mountain bike?

thanks

Hey dude!
I like your reasons for buying it! LOL

If its a proper DH bike then it will have full suspension ie. shocks on the forks and under the seat. If it bounces up and down at the back then its designed to soak up the jumps and bumps on DH trails at speed. If its got no rear sus then its called a hardtail, which would be a more practical choice if you want an "all round" mountain bike. You can still DH on a hardtail, but its not much fun riding any distance (eg. cross-country) on a full sus bike...

I hope this helps! And if it is a full DH bike, why not try it out on some of the trails? Go to the Rough Riderz website and look at our TRAILZ page for more info.

hi

thanks for that reply, it's cleared alot things out, its a hardtail, i have read you can get the fullsuspension which also locks giving you the feel of a hardtail, best of both worlds.

it has no front break or gears lol so i'm going to get it upgraded with gears, not sure if i can upgrade it with back suspension and the cost. i like the frame its amazingly light too, i think it was 12kg, it almost looks like the old school bmx, which i was wel into, so this is perfect, i' only street riding, but yeah i would love to go for a downhill tester but i think i need to buy a better bike fot that. here are 2 photos below of the bike, i can't seem to find it anywhere, so unsure of its worth and reviews.
thanks a million
mo

it is not a downhill bike. the handlebar looks bmx style but still you can use it for local XC ride and long cross country. if you feel uncomfortable then you can change the handlebar with flat one and this gives you good ride on singletrack.
